- If the status is "Fast", it means the sundial is ahead of your clock. To get the real time, you must subtract the minutes from the sundial's reading.
- If the status is "Slow", the sundial is behind your clock. To get the real time, you must add the minutes to the sundial's reading.

Hour Line Measurements

Use this table to make precise marks on the edge of your sundial plate. Once marked, draw a straight line from each mark to the dial's center point (at the base of the gnomon).

Prepare Base & Find Noon Line: On your square plate, draw a North-South line (the Noon Line) perfectly through the middle. This line will serve as the base for your gnomon.
Construct Gnomon: Create a right-angled triangle using the 'Height' and 'Base Length' from the specifications. The angle between the slanted edge (the Style) and the base edge will automatically match your latitude. This is the most critical part of the project.
Mark Hour Lines: Using the "Hour Line Measurements" table, find the correct edge and starting point. For example, "On Top Edge" means the edge opposite the gnomon's base. "Start Measuring From Noon Line" means measuring horizontally from the center line. Make a mark at the specified distance. Repeat for all hours.
Draw Hour Lines: After all marks are made on the edges, draw a straight line from each mark to the **dial's center point**, which is on the edge of the plate where the gnomon's style begins.
Attach Gnomon: The gnomon's base must align perfectly with the Noon Line, spanning the entire plate from edge to edge. For the Northern Hemisphere, the gnomon's 'Height' should be at the North end; for the Southern, it should be at the South end.
